Here is our list of options (as of 8/17/2011)

Island (included in our incentives)
42 inch cabinets

Maple spice cognac cabinets throughout

recessed lights
Added extra window and closet to study
Owner's suite
upgraded bathroom (incentive)

Extra flat top vanity in guest bath (thanks to blogs for making me aware I needed to add this if I didn't want the big empty space)
Large Deck (14 x 16) - went back and forth on this, but I don't think our patio furniture will fit without it..
Low volt wiring in garage (adding garage door opener ourselves)
NICE!! You have some awesome options!! Let us know if they approve the wine fridge!
ReplyDeleteI have seen a Milan in an all stone front. I hope you get it. I bet it would be beautiful! Keep us posted! And congrats!
Thanks so much Noey. I will keep you posted on what I find out. Thanks for being my first commenter! I have been reading your blog for months and feel I owe you a personal thanks for all the help! :)
ReplyDeleteWow...that is quite the list...make sure you scan through other blogs for ideas on custom options. Also, make sure you are given a complete list of available "standard" options that is available for your model.
ReplyDeleteIn your Morning Room, you upgraded to a double patio door...if your sales rep didn't tell you this is typically the width of 2 doors, but only one of them opens and one is fixed...just wanted to make you aware in case your sales rep did not mention that...OR...maybe your option truely does have 2 doors that both open...would be interested to hear back on that...
WOW those are some great options...and great incentives!! Cant wait to see your progress!
ReplyDeleteYes, BD. Unfortunately aware that only one of the doors open, we just like the look better than sliding glass. I don't know why they call it a double patio door when truly it isn't. French doors would be the best of all, maybe I should have asked if that could be a non standard request. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteYou can always remove the double and add some nice French Doors later...we replaced our sliding door with French Doors a couple of years ago, but you will get the same look with the double door...just not the functionality. Ryan Homes would probably charge you a fortune to do that...much cheaper to do it yourself.
ReplyDeleteGood point. I think that would be a great change to make in the future.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are on the right track with the options. As BD said above, make sure you get an "Option List" and make sure you are clear what is standard/included vs. what is an option/upgrade. However, picking our options was by far the most exciting part of the building process. We also through in a few custom requests; however, there is no guarantee that RH wil approve them.
ReplyDeleteWe really look forward to following you in your journey...it is a lot of fun.
Word of advice - Don't ever be afraid to ask and if you don't like or understand the answer...ask again.
Best wishes!!!
HW is absolutely right...we spent hours going over everything on the options list. I still remember my wife saying "Sure...add that...it's only play money"...this was before we started serious negotiations on our price...it was funny at the time, but she said it so many times I was beginning to think our sales rep would think we weren't serious :)
ReplyDeleteLOL. Same here BD. I went through that list like 30 times and made like 4 changes to cost estimate even down to the day we went in to sign. It's fun to play and dream. I also got good tips from all of you and decided to do recessed lighting over fireplace and the fireplace blower because of blog advice. :)
